IPL 2021 Winner Prediction

Teams that are Likely to Win this Season

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings is the multiple time champion led by the legendary player MS Dhoni. Even though it was a bit shocking for them to finish in 7th place last season, they are expected to bounce back with a strong team for this edition.

Chennai alone has spent ₹ 20.35 crore to draft six new players. The likes of the all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham and Moeen Ali can prove vital for the team. It is believed that star Skipper MS Dhoni and Coach Stephen Fleming have played a key role in developing team developing the team’s core strategy for 2021 IPL.

With the IPL best captain Dhoni and other top-class players like Francois Du Plessis, Mitchell Santner, Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir, CSK could be the best bet for IPL 2021 glory.

Mumbai Indians

Defending Champion Mumbai Indians will set their sight straight for the third consecutive title this season. After lifting IPL 2020 trophy defeating Delhi Daredevils, the team released seven players out of their squad.

They are Lasith Malinga, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson, Micthell Mccleneghan, Prince Balwant Rai, Digvijaya Deshmukh and Sherfane Rutherford. Among the released players, they again bought Nathan Coulter Nile spending five crores on the auction. Previously he was bought in ₹ 8 crores by MI.

The five-time IPL winners also bought bowlers Adam Milne, Piyush Chawla, and all-rounders James Neesham, Yudvir Charak, Marco Jansen and Arjun Tendulkar.

Arjun is the son of India Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Besides, MI has retained 17 players in their squad.

Mumbai is led by the young and charismatic captain Rohit Sharma, who has been in top form for many IPL seasons. They are considered one of the tough IPL teams for the opponents in batting and bowling efficiency.

The combination of all-rounders like James Neesham and Marco Jansen, and top batsmen like Rohit Sharma and Chris Lynn gives them the most needed boost in the run chase and scoreboard.

MI is expected to defend their title in 2021, so you won’t go in waste if you bet on them through online ipl betting app.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR is a Kolkata based cricket franchise team owned by the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta.

The team has lifted the IPL trophy two times in 2012 and 2014. They are the third most successful franchise in the IPL after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

Over the past few IPL seasons, KKR has been the victim of inconsistency and indecisiveness. But in 2021, they are likely to overcome these issues and emerge victoriously. In the last IPL, they ended up in the fifth position, letting RCB climb the playoff ladder by narrow net run rate.

In the 2021 season, KKR can capitalize on the batting power of Andre Russell and Eoin Morgan. Similarly, the newly joined Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting the effective line and length bowling can trouble the opponents.

Like in previous seasons, KKR doesn’t have to rely on two spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine. They have added Harbajan Singh to the squad, who could be vital for the team.

Besides, KKR has bought Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib AI Hasan on ₹ 3.2 crores who could cast spell magic spell both with his batting and bowling prowess.

KKR also bought Karun Nair, Pawan Negi, Benketesh Iyer, Sheldon Jackson and Vaibhav Arora as new squad members. In 2021 there is an opportunity for KKR to do miracles with their star all-rounders as they did in their two title-winning campaigns.

Teams that Could Qualify for the IPL Playoffs

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals reached the IPL 2020 finals last season, but unfortunately, they couldn’t get past Mumbai Indians and lost hope of winning the champions title. Considering their exuberance level and positive approach towards the game, they can easily make it to the playoff this season.

Last season, they played consistently in both batting and bowling front, and their performance has improved a lot compared to the 2017 and 2018 IPL seasons.

For this season of IPL, they retained 19 players and added Tim Curran to their squad, spending ₹ 5.3 crores in the IPL auction.

With Tim’s entry in the DC squad, the team is likely to elevate their gameplay this IPL season.

Further, the Australian Bastsman Steven Smith can be a good boost for the team as his unorthodox and technical batting skills can put an opponent in a difficult position.

The veteran spinner Amit Mishra, Ravichandran Ashwin and the flamboyancy of the youngest South African bowler Kagiso Rabada can put the team in a better position in the IPL 2021 point table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad got IPL entry after the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers got terminated by IPL. SH registered its first IPL win in 2016.

SH team squad consists of the Australian star player David Warner, who was awarded an orange cap for scoring the highest run in the IPL 2019 tournament. The opener Warner and another overseas player Bairstow combined scored 1137 runs for the team in the 2019 IPL season, putting the Sunrisers in a solid position. And in 2020, warner alone scored 548 runs in his 16 appearances averaging 39.14.

Captain David Warne will be looking to stamp his authority this IPL season as well.

In the 2021 IPL auction, SH spent their larger fortune bringing two young prodigies Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afghani Spinner) and Kedar Jadav (Middle-order Batsman), who can boost the team’s performance.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Despite having various notable players on their squad, RCB has never won the IPL. Their lack of success over the years despite having the best players on the team has earned them the tag of underachievers.

Last season, we got a chance to see the boisterous gameplay that earned them a place in the playoff. The kind of spark we saw last season from Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Devdutt Padikkal was truly worth watching.

But RCB need to raise the bar this time by performing consistently for a prolonged period. Relying on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers’ brilliance won’t be enough for RCB to reach the playoff and possibly clinch the trophy.

Making a few changes in the squad and utilizing the talent of recently bought Australian All-rounder Daniel Christian and Glenn Maxwell can take them far in the tournament.

Teams that are Likely to Finish Bottom of the IPL Table

Kings XI Punjab

When West Indies power-hitting batsman Chris Gayle was brought to Kings XI Punjab, many IPL betting fans got the best odds on the team. Chris Gayle did exhibit his batting skills occasionally, but it wasn’t enough for the Mohali based franchise cricket team to reach the playoff.

Even though Punjab possessed power hitters like Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle and Glenn Maxell, their combined batting power couldn’t take KXIP to the IPL 2020 playoffs. However, we got a chance to see some amazing matches of KXIP that was unbelievably exhilarating.

In 2021 IPL, KXIP could gear up their game with their skilled players KL Rahul, Moises Henriques and Mayank Agarwal.

This year, you won’t be seeing Glenn Maxwell playing from Punjab as he got released from the squad. Surprisingly RCB bought him in a whooping sum of ₹ 14.25 crore at the auction. This price tag left cricket fans across the world surprised.

This 2021 IPL season, Punjab have tried to make their bowling lineup strong, adding Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson and right-hand fast bowler Riley Meredith to the squad. However, considering KXIP past IPL seasons stats and dysfunctional gameplay, you may not find it rewarding to bet on this team.

Rajasthan Royals

Imagine a team with an incredible all-rounder, the world’s best batsman and an exciting pace bowler. If you see the Rajasthan Royals squad, all your imagination will come true. Indeed, Rajasthan Royals have top-class players like Steve Smith, Josh Butler, Jofra Archer, and Ben Stokes.

Despite the best players on the squad, their previous IPL season couldn’t be memorable. They remained at the bottom of the point table.

RR doesn’t have an efficient pacer and spinner to share load consistency with star bowler like Archer. This year RR closed a deal in IPL season, acquiring Chris Morris for ₹ 16.25 crores. Morris is the costliest-ever player in IPL auction to be brought at this price. Previously, KKR Pat Cummins had held this record. KKR roped him in for a massive ₹ 15.5 crores for IPL 2020.

Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube and Bangladeshi all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman is another big purchase for Rajasthan Royals. Royals spent a total of ₹ 5.4 crores to welcome these two talented all-rounders in the squad.

Despite their star power, we feel like RR fans should muster up some courage to see their team’s degrading performance in IPL 2021, like in 2020. It is just our predictions based on the previous season performance and the list of present team players, so what the future holds for the team is yet to be found out.

Final Note

As we discussed above, different teams have lifted the IPL trophy in the past seasons. Chennai Super Kings are three times IPL champion, and five times they have ended up as runner-up in the tournament. Another team, Mumbai Indians, became IPL Champion for the fifth time beating Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020 final.

Thus, both of these teams are strong contenders for the 2021 IPL season.

Apart from CSK and MI, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals have managed to lift the IPL trophy. But Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and King XI Punjab haven’t been able to lift an IPL trophy so far. Therefore, one of these teams could also emerge as a new IPL 2021 champion.

Delhi had a chance to lift the trophy in 2020, but Mumbai Indians shattered their hopes.
